Electronically controlled brake system developed, adopted in new Prius model

ADVICS CO., LTD. (headquartered in Kariya, Aichi, President Satoshi Ogiso) is announcing the development of its new generation electronically controlled brake system. This product has been adopted in Toyota Motor Corporation's latest Prius model.

An electronically controlled brake system is a control system in hybrid vehicles and so on that utilizes hydraulic brake power and motorized regenerative brake power in a coordinated fashion so that kinetic energy is recovered during deceleration in the most efficient way.

Because the newly developed electronically controlled brake system is more hydraulically responsive than existing systems, it produces a smoother braking feeling and extended energy recovery range, helping to further improve fuel economy. It also provides the functional extensibility to support future advanced driving support control systems. This product will be exhibited at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015*.

ADVICS electronically controlled brake systems have been adopted in Toyota's environmentally friendly vehicles (hybrid vehicles and fuel cell vehicles) since the first Prius was launched in 1997. ADVICS will keep using its technological strength to help create environmentally friendly cars in future.
